What is ACH Debit?

ACH debit is a direct electronic payment from the bank account to another person or company. It can also be used for direct deposit of payroll and other payments.

ACH debit differs from ACH credit, which allows authorizing the transfer of funds out of a bank account.

It is used for direct payouts from banks, like direct deposit of Social Security benefits or tax refunds.
