Absenteeism

Absenteeism is a term that is used to describe the absence of employees from their jobs. It can be defined as any employee who does not report to work at the scheduled time, or who leaves early without permission. There are several types of absenteeism which include:

• Unexcused absences – These are absences made without appropriate documentation for an approved reason.
• Excused absences – These are those that are allowed by management, and may include bereavement leave, jury duty and other reasons acceptable in your workplace policy.
